Before we bought the cottage, on one of our inspections, I noticed an old workbench buried amongst the debris in the shed and asked the owner if she had any plans for it. She said she was happy to leave it if we'd like it.... so I quickly said, "Please do", I could already see it's potential.
I really loved the rusticity of this old workbench and could see it could be wonderfully re-purposed in the kitchen. There is still evidence of glue snaking right across the top of the table which adds lots of character. Random cuts and bolts only adds to the whole effect too.
Although we've resurrected this bench to become a mobile 'butcher-block' table on wheels, we couldn't resist having a delicious meal on it once it was complete. Love it!
Originally this bench was covered with rubbish in the old shed and the following pics show it still standing in there during the clean up process.
