Such an exciting moment to see this wild, overgrown, unloved yard looking like someone lives here. We are delighted with the end result and sure hope you enjoy it too.
The job of spreading 4 tonne of white scoria, was as exciting as it was exhausting. Carl did all the shoveling as I have a shocking back which gives me chronic pain, and I did all the raking and detailing.
Feeling rather chuffed with the end result — as are loads of the village people.
How much more beautiful will things be when the lovely new plants become established and of course when the cottage finally gets painted.
The driveway now doubles as another quiet spot to sit. In fact a funny thing happened last week. I had a group of women stop at the picket fence, had a little discussion among themselves and then proceeded around the back of the property accessed by the lane-way for a further discussion. Peering in and catching my attention, said "Are you open?" I understandably had a puzzled look on my face and chatted with them. They thought we were a little cafe or coffee shop, and when I asked them why they thought that, they told me it was because they had noticed all these lovely places to sit. Cute!
We often have a celebratory meal and enjoy the fruits of our labour.
Even our car is smiling and delighting in her new home, after being parked on the roadside for the past year.
Ahhhhh! Life is good and we feel blessed.
SOME REMINDERS OF ONCE WAS JUST ONE YEAR AGO....
