CHAOS TO QUAINT

When we checked out this property before we bought it, we had to look hard to even see that there was a shed behind all the rubbish (check out the first pic. We decided that if we bought it, we would demolish the shed. It was home to the original cookhouse in the old days.

The 80's pavers were so terrible with a massive black stain all around the toilet. After scrubbing it several times with sugar soap I decided to paint the whole room white, the floor and all!

We managed to clear all the rubbish from inside the shed and removed all the rubbish from outside the shed. We filled a 6 metre skip bin with all manner of rubbish. As you can see by the following pic, we also discovered a beautiful 70's purple and yellow door on the side of the open shed.

Some of the hardwood timber planks we found in the shed clean-up, we repositioned into the space where we removed the purple and yellow door. And check out the cute little characterful gate we found amongst the debris too. It looks right at home across the opening of the barn. Every time we look at it, we kind of expect a little donkey to pop its head out over the top. The entire barn is certainly not weatherproof but looks amazing!

After a few days of solid work and some serious creativity, we turned this ugly shed into a very quaint European Barn — We love it!!!

We gathered all the firewood which was strewn all over the property and stacked it into the shed. It looks like a rustic work of art displayed in the alfresco end of the barn. The old rustic ladder was amongst all the rubbish next to the shed so it is now happily re-homed and looks very at home.

We love this magnificent Illawarra Flame Tree which is in the heart of the back yard — in fact we have never seen one soooo big. Can't wait to see it in full colour next season.
