WOW!!! Green grass never looked soooo good! To preserve all the beautiful rich soil, we needed to get some turf ordered - pronto! I did lots of research on what type to get and settled on ordering soft leafed buffalo grass called 'Sapphire'. We chose this particular variety as it is obviously a soft leaf variety, but also because it is more shade tolerant, drought tolerant - so needs less watering, requires infrequent mowing and does not develop the brown seed heads like 'Sir Walter'. Love it!!

With all the rubbish and old shabby plantings removed from the back yard, of course, it exposed us quite a bit to neighbours properties, so we opted to create a screen with ornamental pear trees 'Capital' variety. Which will look magnificent in a couple of years.
To save the hassle of finding other souls to help, Carl and I single handedly lay 160 square metres of turf. Very rewarding but very exhausting. Me with a seriously bad back and Carl who was only four weeks post stroke. Anyway! We did it!!

Where else do you lay a weary body down but on a couple of small cushions on the bare board floor. Oh dear! I promise things will improve.

After a shower and a regroup, we took ourselves to the beautifully restored historic old pub down the road for some dinner and a well deserved break.
