TIME TO GET THE FRONT SORTED

Finally! The day has come for the front yard to have its final clean-up so the landscaping can happen and to catch this year's growing season. We have been waiting for the excavator for soooo long now — but today is the day. Hooray!

On the right hand side of the house there were 4-5 large clumps of Tiger Grass which is a variety of bamboo. They were about 5 metres high and apart from blocking all the light into the southern windows of the place, they made it impossible to access that side of the house easily. Not to mention a haven for snakes etc. We tried valiantly to dig them out and remove them, but had to let the mini excavator make his way down there with only a few inches to spare. It was terrible stuff to get rid of actually.

Down the left hand side of the house there were old tree ferns and quite a few banana trees that were too big for Carl to remove so the excavator would clear that out. The neighbors had been patiently waiting for all those banana trees to be removed which were causing them grief. Across one side of the front of the house was overgrown 'Sacred Bamboo' which we also wanted removed - ready to plant our beautiful new Iceberg Roses.

Very satisfying and now definitely a barren wilderness to add some creative touches to.

Yep! This was hot and dirty work — my daughter tells me that 'Birky' feet is very uncool! Oh well!

The following day we raked and picked up the last remaining rubbish.

A few pics below of BEFORE to remind you..... Oh dear!!!
