INSTALLATION & INSULATION

Of course we commissioned an expert to do all the wiring for us. She's all wired up with12 volt for lighting, fan and water pump. And 240 volt for power outlets, dual pole, for computer, toaster, kettle, coffee machine, TV, air-conditioner and hair dryer etc. Kelvin Sawyer did a great job and was willing to lend a hand in a few other areas as well. We have never seen anyone with such an amazing collection of professional tools which certainly came in handy for some of the difficult jobs. Thanks Kelvin.

YES!!! We have lights! How exciting!

So while some of the more complicated jobs were being processed and carried out by my very capable handyman husband, it was my job to source some insulation for the van. Once again we'd researched the best mediums to use and found that each one of them seemed to have pros and cons, with all things considered we opted for polystyrene foam. Being sure to keep it well away from 240 volt wiring.

Because we lived in the country I found it very difficult to find a supplier that stocked sheets that were the right thickness for our needs. I eventually came across a place that were willing to order it in for us, so that was great, until I received the quote. Wow! — $800. I quickly put my 'Miss Resourceful' hat on and came up with a very satisfactory solution to the dilemma. After all, we didn't really need large sheets as we needed to cut them to fit into the frame anyway. A quick chat to the right people at Harvey Norman and 'Voila!' and a few regular visits to their polystyrene recycling bin, where all the packaging from fridges, washing machines, dryers etc ended up, and all done! Helping the environment and saved $800. Awesome! Thanks Harvey Norman.

The insulation has made such a HUGE difference to the comfort levels in Piccolo Rose. It's wonderful!

Loved doing this job — it was so satisfying. But SUPER messy!
