Exciting when the inside fixtures begin to happen after all this time, mind you it is now only 3 months since we started the Reno, so guess we’re not going too badly.
We bought two pieces of nicely laminated timber from Bunnings for the bench-top which is actually Rubber-wood, we really liked it because it wasn’t too weighty and we also loved the light coloured timber. Carl joined the 2 pieces together and positioned it in place a couple of times before we painted it.
Firstly, I wiped a very small amount of lime-wash on the timber and had also put a couple of drops of grey colour in as I didn't want it too white. It looks beautiful — really love it! On top of the lime-wash we then put many coats (8 for memory) of water based, low sheen timber finish polyurethane. It's awesome!
The framework was constructed for the front side of the east-west bed as well.
