It was really nice to be out of the shed and not to have tools in our hands. And it is always lovely to spend time with my seven little Cherrybimbles. They were super excited to see Piccolo Rose and thought it was a very cool cubby-house.
As mentioned in an earlier post, there were still many jobs to do, but as you can see in the following pics, we made it work. A bit like camping instead of glamping. Never mind!
Eventually we will have a gas bottle fitted on the front of the van, but for now some flowers looked lovely in an antique rusted bucket. The can basket, contains a plastic tub with lid, which is home for our shoes.
We have a lovely little guest book which many souls wrote in and shared their delight in Piccolo Rose. It is of course navy and white striped, as is the pen to match. Perfect!
Because this was our first adventure in our new little van, we were definitely not prepared for the attention that she would receive. In fact the second day of our holiday on one occasion, we had 25-30 people forming an informal queue to have a look inside. Quite funny!
After we arrived and got settled, I decided to put a few pics on Facebook, which was the first time I had shared anything about the Reno. To be honest I was a tad nervous as I know there are loads of souls out there in Vintage Reno world who work hard to keep everything original. And that is perfectly valid. But in our case, it's not the end result we wanted. We lived through the 70's and didn't feel the need to revisit that era. Besides because of our creativity we wanted to create our own little masterpiece that was uniquely and expression of 'Us'.
As I posted the pics on Facebook, I quietly made a decision to not respond to any negative comments and would answer any other positive comments that may be posted. Well.... as it turned out, I spent the first day of our holidays responding to 860 glowing positive comments, there were 2,500 'Loves' & 'Likes' and I also received a private message from a well known caravan magazine who wanted to feature it and do a story on Piccolo Rose. So we were chuffed!
