You could not have scripted what happened as we went to drive out of the shed to head off on our holiday. We hooked up, hopped in the car, started the engine, put it into ‘D’ for Drive and immediately the engine cut out. We couldn’t start the car, we couldn’t get it out of gear. There we were, a dead car, caravan hooked on, with other equipment and machinery behind it, so we couldn’t get the van out behind us or in front. Looking like we were destined NOT to go on holidays.
Turns out after a long process of elimination, that a rivet had accidentally been driven through the wiring on the van, which had caused it to short the car, which had disengaged the computer on the car etc etc etc. Because we were desperate to get away, we borrowed a friend’s car and drove to our destination without the lights working on the van. Glad it was only an hour up the road. And came back a few days later and fixed our own car problem. Resetting the computer etc.
